It was the largest car count in the history of Jackson County Speedway as 126 cars signed in for competition at the quarter mile bullring. Chris Garnes would take the victory in the late model division, Travis Dickson would best a field of 45 modifieds for his second feature win of the year, Jamey Adams would win the Street Stock division, Steve Cruse would win the Outlaw 4’s, Tommy Cox would win the FWD Stock 4’s and John Burchette would win the 5 car enduro. It would take several starts to bring the late model to green as the late model feature saw twice as many caution laps as race laps. Russ Frohnapfel and Freddie Carpenter would battle it out for the lead for several laps before Tyler Carpenter would start his bid for the top spot. Freddie Carpenter would retire from the event on a lap 10 caution as Frohnapfel would inherit the lead and Garnes would inherit 2nd. A lap 14 caution would see Frohnapfel retire from the event and Garnes would inherit the lead for a green, white checkered as the race had severely went over the time limit. Garnes would go in to win the Late Model feature event. KC Burdette would charge to the front in a 9th to 3rd run and Brandon Conkel would earn hard charger with a 14th to 7th run. The top ten behind Garnes would be Roy Roush, Burdette, Nick Corbitt, Travis Brookover, Tommy Twinam, Brandon Conkel, Kenny Newhouse, Randy Wynett and Russ Frohnapfel. The modified division was stacked with some of the Ohio Valley’s best talent as 45 modifieds would sign in. In the feature Dave Jamison would leave the first several laps before Travis Dickson took over the lead on the seventh lap. While the son was taking over the point, Mark would start to charge to the front as he would pass for third on the sixth circuit. Several other drivers would move through the field as the ever exciting Kenny Johnson would take his 10th starting position and finish 4th. Perhaps the hardest worker of the night was Derrick Smith who had retired from his heat early and would go on to win the C Main, place 3rd in the B Main for the last transfer spot and earn hard charger award in the A Main with an 18th to 11th performance. Travis Dickson would go on to win his largest win of the year at McCown’s Jackson Speedway. Rounding out the top ten behind Dickson would be Jamison, Mark Dickson, Kenny Johnson, Mike Long, Mike McPherson, Shawn Donahue, Danny Ferguson, Adam Jordan and Nick Carr. We would also like to thank Tom and Pam Lemon for the $100 fast time award won by Mark Dickson. As many of the other track championships were already settled, the street stock track championship would come down to the feature event with Butch Eblin 9 points ahead of Jamey Adams. How appropriate that those two would draw the front row for the feature. Adams would quickly jump to the lead with Eblin fading to fourth. The top four would remain unchanged until lap 4 when Eblin would spin in turn two and be relegated to the tail. Adams would go on to win yet another feature event and with Eblin getting back to 11th, Adams would win the championship by a mere 3 points. Davey Akers would have one of his best runs of the year as he would cross the line in second. Brandon Mather would earn hard charger as he would take his 12th starting position and finish in the 5th position. Rounding out the top ten behind Akers is Evan Seitz, John Powell Jr, Brandon Mather, Shane Pendleton, Jim Helterbran, Lee Neil, Jason Spillman and Tim Cutler. Steve Cruse and Randy Baker were the class of the field in the Outlaw 4 division. Cruse would go on to win the heat race and feature as Baker was in close vicinity throughout the night. Rounding out the field behind Baker was Dustin Gatwood, Arnold Topping, Adam Hayes, Keith Elliott, Keith Anderson, Robert Haynes and BJ Jackson. In the FWD Stock 4 feature Tommy Cox would lead flag to flag as the battle for second between Jeff Rankin, Jeff Blanton and Todd Miley was nose to tail the entire race. Cox would go on to win the event as Rankin would capture second, Blanton third and Miley fourth. Behind Miley was Keith Anderson, Steve Brown, Justin Webb, Russell Blosser, Tyler Carroll, John Rankin and Jason Vankirk. McCown’s Jackson County Speedway will return on the 29th with the final race of the year with Modifieds, Steel Block Late Models, Street Stocks, Outlaw 4’s and FWD Stock 4’s.. The finale of the 1st Annual Street Stock Nationals was a doozy as Laurelville, Ohio’s Jamey Adams would make an amazing pass for the lead with two laps left to go and go on to win the 1st Annual Street Stock Nationals and the $2,500 payday. Jeff Arnold won the Montgomery Machine & Fabrication Steel Block Late Model feature, Steve Cruse dominated the Outlaw 4 Cylinder feature and JR Dermer takes the Stock 4 Cylinder feature.
In the $2,500 to win Street Stock Nationals event John Powell Jr and Brandon Mather would bring the inaugural event to the green flag. John Powell Jr would quickly assert himself as the leader with Ed Leasure taking over second. The field would get comfortable in their positions clicking off 15 laps before the first caution would fly. On the restart Jamey Adams would pass for the third position as the top three cars would be under a blanket for the next 30 laps. A lap 46 caution would cause the field to bunch back up and cars would prepare for a four lap shootout. Jamey Adams would take advantage of that caution as he would pass Leasure for second on lap 47. On the following lap Adams would make a daring pass coming out of turn four as Adams would go extremely high against the guardrail to pass Powell for the lead. Adams would complete the pass in turns one and two and go on to win the biggest race of his career. Mike Brust would be credited with hard charger as he would take his 18th place starting position and finish 5th. Rounding out the top ten was Jamey Adams, John Powell Jr, Ed Leasure, Brandon Mather, Mike Brust, Jim Rayner, Timmy Glassburn, Tommy Mossbarger, Glen Underwood and Evan Seitz. In the Steel Block Late Model feature, outside pole sitter Kenny Newhouse would have mechanical failure in turns one and two and would bunch the field up causing a maylee in turn 3 with Pete Brunton hitting the turn three exit post backwards, destroying his car. Three more cautions within 5 laps would happen before the cars would start to click off the laps. Jacob Curnutte would inherit the lead after the first lap maylee and looked to be the man to beat. On lap 14 Curnutte would slam into the turn 4 wall ending his night and handing the lead to Jeff Arnold. Arnold would take full advantage of the gift as he would go on to win the Steel Block Late Model feature. Rounding out the top ten behind Arnold, Tommy Johnson, Ted Johnson Jr, Rex Frohnapfel Jr, Jay Dunaway, Carl Dillow, Jacob Curnutte, Tom Bigham, Randy Wynett and Chris Maynard. Tommy Johnson would win the $100 bonus for having the highest average finish for the two nights. In the Outlaw 4 Feature it was all Cruse all the time for the second night in a row. Steve Cruse would take his pole position and win in dominating fashion. Rounding out the field behind Cruse would be Chip Mack, Derek Davis, Todd Ervin, Randy Baker, Joey Johnson, Chris Strickland, Arnold Topping and William Caldwell. In the Stock 4 Feature it was good night for first timer JR Dermer but a horrible night for points champion Todd Miley. Miley would go for the third position on lap 4 when Miley would flip his car 3 times landing on all four wheels. Miley would have to be cut out of his car as precautionary measure as he complained about severe back pain. When the racing resumed Dermer would go on to win his first victory of the year at McCown’s Jackson County Speedway. Behind Dermer was Michael Skeens, Austin Smith, Miley and Brandon Allen. McCown’s Jackson County Speedway will be idle for several weeks and will return on October 22nd. The Street Stock Nationals kicked off Friday night at McCowns Jackson County Speedway as 39 of the Ohio Valleys best street stocks took time. Brad Roe would set the Montgomery Machine & Fabrication fast time with a new track record at 15.19 seconds. Greg Oliver would win the late model division in the Chris Garnes owned car, Aaron Pendleton would have to work for his win in the Mod Lite division, Steve Cruse took the Outlaw 4 Cylinder main, Tommy Cox once again won the Stock 4 Cylinder feature and Colten Perine makes it two for two in the mini wedge division. Chris Garnes and Greg Oliver would bring the late model feature to the green flag as Garnes would get a huge jump at the initial start. Garnes and Oliver would pace the field for the first several laps when a lap 6 caution would be the demise of Garnes. While track workers were working the accident Garnes’s right rear tire would go flat, ending his night. Oliver would inherit the lead and and Richard Jenkins would move up to second. The man on the move however was Kenneth Howell. Howell would take his eleventh starting spot and quickly move in the top 5 by lap six. Howell would run third for several laps before finally making the pass for second. At the line it was Greg Oliver getting his first Late Model feature victory at McCown’s Jackson County Speedway. Rounding out the top ten was Greg Oliver, Kenneth Howell, Russ Frohnapfel, Steve Prince, Tony Roush, Josh Scott, Randy Wynett, Tommy Johnson, Robbie Ratcliff and Ted Johnson Jr. The last several weeks the mod lite division has featured some of the best racing of the night and Friday night was different as Aaron Pendleton and Gary Griffith put on one heck of a show for the fans. The first 8 circuits of the 15 lap main event saw Pendleton and Griffith side by side with Griffith in the middle and Pendleton on the bottom. Pendleton would get extreme bite coming off the corner, lifting the left front high off the ground. Pendleton would finally edge Griffith on the 9th circuit and would pull away. Pendleton would go on for yet another victory in the mod lite division. He was also crowned the 2011 mod lite points champion. Rounding out the field behind Griffith was David Seitz, Roger Seitz, JT Jones, Doug Morris, David Elmore, Joey Rogers, Jack Kriel, Chris Carman, Joe Rogers. In the outlaw 4 cylinder division Steve Cruse would get the early jump over Chip Mack and the rest would be history, as Cruse would cruise his way to yet another outlaw 4 cylinder feature win. Rounding out the field would be Cruse, Mack, Derek Davis, Todd Ervin, Randy Baker, Joey Johnson. In the stock 4 cylinder division, Tommy Cox would blister the competition and lead green to checkered winning the feature. Behind Cox was Tyler Carroll, Michael Skeens and Austin Smith. New winners, repeat winners and hour and a half delay due to a modified driver being seriously injured were the story for the switch to Saturday nights. Jimmy Smith won the modified division in his first visit, Jamey Adams made a last lap past to claim the street stock feature, Steve Cruse won the Outlaw 4 Cylinder division, Todd Miley won the stock 4 cylinder division, Joel Richendollar won the mini wedges and Melissa Diehl won the powder puff enduro. Rob Stambaugh and Greg Oliver would bring the modified feature to the green flag. The two would pace the field until a lap 4 red flag for driver Mike Davis. Davis would hit the turn three guardrail full throttle coming to a stop facing the opposite direction. Davis would have to be cut out of the car, with the driver going in and out of consciousness and complaining of tingling in his legs. He would then be life flighted to Grant Hospital as a precautionary measure. After an hour and a half delay the racing would resume and would become hot and heavy up front. Jimmy Smith would get around Greg Oliver on Lap 8, then on lap 13 Smith and Oliver would get around Stambaugh for the lead. Robin Duston would take third from Stambaugh on lap 15 as the Smith would begin to pull away. As the checkered flag flew Smith would claim the feature on his first visit to the speedway. Rounding out the top ten behind Smith would be Oliver, Duston, Stambaugh, Ryan McCarley, Jeff Votaw, Justin Murray, Eddie Cottrill, Chad Roush and Derrick Shadwick. A huge field of street stocks took their opportunity for the last tune up before the $2,500 to win Street Stock Nationals. Brandon Thompson and Bruce Gray Jr would lead the field to the green with Thompson quickly staking claim as the leader. Thompson would have one of his best runs of the season as he would lead the first 7 laps. Lee Neil would make the pass for the lead on lap 8 and on the same lap Thompson would loop it in turn three going for the lead. Lee Neil would go on to lead the next several laps but to count out Jamey Adams would be foolish. Adams would take his sixth starting position and pick his way to the front. Adams would run third for several laps, but with two to go Adams would make his move. Adams would complete the pass for second and set his sights on the leader. Adams and Neil would be side by side at the white flag. Adams would complete the pass down the backstretch and go on to win yet another feature in impressive style. Rounding out the top ten behind Adams would be Neil, Davey Akers, Brandon Mather, Jim Helterbran, Mike Brust, Kevin Woodall, Jack Martin, Jeff Sheets and Brandon Thompson. In the Outlaw 4 Cylinder Steve Cruse would find himself out in the lead early. The race would go caution free and Cruse would cruise his way to yet another victory at McCown’s Jackson County Speedway. Behind Cruse was Todd Ervin, Scott Henry and Joey Johnson. In the Stock 4 Cylinder feature Chris Strickland would cross the line first but post race tech inspections would disqualify the driver and Todd Miley would be credited with the win. Behind Miley would be Justin Webb, Tommy Cox, Fred Topping and Brandon Allen. McCown’s Jackson County Speedway will be idle next weekend in preparation for the 1st Annual Street Stock Nationals. The Street Stock Nationals will be a two day event racing Friday the 16th and Saturday the 17th with a practice date set for Thursday the 15th. This event is the largest Street Stock purse in the Midwest with cars from Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio and West Virginia vying for a piece of the $2,500 top prize. McCown's Jackson County Speedway roared to life again friday night with the late model division making a return visit. In the late model division Kite, Kentucky's Brandon Fouts would win over Russ Frohnapfel, Derrick Smith would get his first career modified feature win, Gary Griffith would return to victory lane in the mod lite division, Levi Woods is a broken record claiming yet another pure stock feature win, Randy Baker picked up his third feature win of the year in the outlaw 4 cylinder division, Tommy Cox conquered the stock 4 cylinder feature, Joel Richendollar won the mini wedge divions and Mike Brust won the enduro event. Brandon Fouts and Kevin Wagner would bring the late model division to the green flag. Fouts would quickly jump out to the early lead with Wagner right on his tail. Fouts, who was dialed in all night, would begin to pull away once the leaders hit lapped traffic. Tommy Johnson, who hit the wall in hot laps, returned to have a great run in the feature. Johnson would start in the tenth postion and would make his way into fourth position on a lap 18 caution. Over the next several laps Johnson and Ronnie Mayle would engage in an epic battle for postion, at one point that battle would send Johnson wildly through the infield. Johnson would return to the track and continue his pursuit of third place. Brandon Queen and Randy Wynett would both have stellar runs through the field. Fouts would go on to win the Late Model feature in front of Russ Frohnapfel, Mayle, Johnson, Queen, Steve Prince, Wynett, Willie Bigham, Brett Foster, Wagner, Nick Corbitt, Roger Dilley, Scott Sperry and Chad Todd. In the modified feature Derrick Smith and veteran Bud Frazier would bring the field to the green with Smith quickly jumping out to an early lead. Robin Duston and Brian Whiteman would do battle for the third position for several laps as Whiteman would finally managed the pass on lap 13 of the 20 lap main event. Smith and Frazier would distance themselves from the field in the closing laps with the two racing comfortable in their positions. Smith would go on to win his first ever modified feature victory with fourth place finishing Duston sliding across the finishing line backwards. Rounding out the top ten behind Smith was Frazier, Whiteman, Duston, Jim Wilson, Dave Jamison, Steve Clemmons, Ryan McCarley, Eric Arledge and Justin Maddox. The mod lite feature once again saw a the trio of Gary Griffith, Aaron Pendleton and JT Jones separate themselves from the field and go nose to tail for a majority of the event. Pendleton would bow out of the race on lap 11 with mechanical failure and the duo of Griffith and Jones would have a 4 lap shootout for the win. Griffith would be too much for Jones as Griffith would go on to win his second feature win of the year. Behind Griffith was Jones, Kevin Rittenhouse, Jack Kriel, Brennan Bobst, Pendleton, Chris Carman, David Elmore & Anthony Helms. In the pure stock feature Levi Woods would lead to flag to flag as his dominance of the pure stock division continues. Adrian Doles would finish second, Brandon Allen third and Steve Nobile would DNF from the event. In the outlaw 4 cylinder feature Steve Cruse would start out leading the race when a lap 3 caution would cause the leader to retire from the event with mechanical issues. That would leave Randy Baker and Todd Ervin to have a 7 lap dual to the checkers. The two would never be any further than a car length separated from each other, but in the end it would Baker taking the victory over Ervin. Cruse would be credited with third, while Larry Vance would be credited with fourth. In the stock 4 cylinder division Tommy Cox would go on to victory after having a flag to flag performance. Post race tech inspections would find all motors legal under JCS rules. Cox would finish ahead of Brandon Potter, Todd Miley, Brandon Allen and Keith Elliott. Joel Richendollar would blitz the mini wedge division as he would finish in front of Jayce Denny and Chase Frohnapfel. McCown’s Jackson County Speedway will return on Saturday, September 3rd with a full program of Modifieds, Street Stocks, Pure Stocks, Outlaw 4 Cylinders, Stock 4 Cylinders, Mini Wedges and an Enduro. It was a lights out kind of night at McCown's Jackson County Speedway with some exciting racing throughout the night. Mark Dickson would bring home the $800 to win modified event, Kenny Johnson would win the street stock division in the Jamey Adams owned car, Aaron Pendleton would find victory lane again in the mod lite division, Levi Woods continues his domination in the pure stock division, Steve Cruse hopes to start another win streak with a win in the outlaw 4 cylinder division, Tommy Cox makes it two in a row in the stock 4 cylinder division and Joel Richendollar returns to victory in the mini wedge division. Mark Dickson and Rob Stambaugh would bring the field to the green in the modified feature. Travis Dickson would quickly jump into the second position behind dad Mark. While the duo had first and second safely in tack Kenny Johnson and Rob Stambaugh would wage a war for th first several laps for the third position. Stambaugh would eventually cement himself into the third position as the field would quickly click off laps. A lap 13 caution would bunch the field back up and this would be disastrous for a few of the top competitors. On the restart the field would make it through one and two but turns three and four would start the maylee as Stambaugh would spin and collect Johnson and Roger Shadwick. Those three drivers would be unable to continue. The Dickson duo would go unchallenged the remainder of the event as Mark Dickson would go on for his sixth win of the year. Rounding out the field would be Mark Dickson, Travis Dickson, Derrick Smith, Ryan McCarley, Donnie Stewart, Tyler Hendrix, Stambaugh, Johnson, Shadwick, Glenn Keaton John Powell Jr and Bruce Gray Jr would jump out to the early lead in the street stock division. On lap two Gray would spin in front of the whole field coming out of two. Luckily no one seriously hit Gray, unfortunately for Gray however, that spin would end his night. On the restart Powell and Kenny Johnson would begin a fierce battle for the lead. Johnson would look low and high to find his way around Powell. Johnson finally found his way around Powell on lap 5 restart diving low coming out of two to take the lead. Powell would try to get around Johnson on the next corner but Johnson carried the high side momentum. As Johnson began to stretch his lead the battle now became for second as Jamey Adams would find his way to the front in his newly built camaro. Adams would always be there waiting for a Powell bobble, but it would never come. Johnson would go on to win his first street stock feature of the year. On a side note, it was a disastrous night and possibly a season ending night for points leader Butch Eblin as he would mention a possible blown motor to track officials. Rounding out the field behind Johnson would be Powell, Adams, Brandon Mather, Brandon Thompson, Davey Akers, Chad Barr, Steve Karr, Mike Colopy, Kurtis Dunaway, Butch Eblin, Bruce Gray Jr In possibly the best race of the night, the mod lite feature was a sight to see. Aaron Pendleton, JT Jones and Gary Griffith was literally nose to tail the entire race. At times Jones was merely inches away from Pendleton's back bumper. Jones would dive bomb Pendleton on numerous occasions to pass Pendleton for the lead. While that was going on, third place Griffith was trying to find the best and fastest line for him to pass the two in front of him. For 15 laps it was a top 3 chess match, waiting for a bobble that never came, methodically picking racing lines, momentum runs that were for not and a race that this writer was excited to have watched. Pendleton would go on to victory in front of JT Jones, Gary Griffith, Brennan Bobst, Joe Rogers and Anthony Helms. In the pure stock feature, what started out as a good race ended in a caution filled disaster. Steve Noble and Levi Woods would have a great battle for lead until Noble would end his mount on lap 3. Shelly Powell would quickly find her way back to second on lap 6 after a lap 1 spin. Brandon Allen would take his 7th starting position and turn it into a top 3 run, claiming third at races end. Levi Woods and Shelly Powell would end the race with a great battle, with Woods claiming victory yet again. Rounding out the field behind Woods would be Powell, Allen, Isreal Ousley, Brad Creamer, Adrian Doles, Matt Fizer and Steve Noble. In the outlaw 4 feature, it was Steve Cruse who was a man on a mission. After DNF'ing in the heat race, Cruse would take his 6th starting position and quickly find his way to second place. Todd Ervin would lead the first 7 laps of the feature before Cruse would take over that postion on lap 8. Cruse would go on to extend his lead leaving no room for Ervin to challenge. Cruse would go on to victory lane, a spot that he would like to become familiar with again after having some mechanical issues the past few weeks. Behind Cruse was Ervin, Ben Vance, Derek Davis, Keith Elliott and Randy Baker. In the stock 4 feature, Tommy Cox would lead wire to wire as points leader Todd Miley would run second. Miley would be better on the straights but Cox was better on the corners and that was the difference. Tommy Cox would go on to win his second feature in a row. Behind Cox would be Miley, Michael Skeens, Tyler Carroll, Brandon Allen and Brandon Potter. Youngster Joel Richendollar would go flag to flag in the mini wedge division, winning yet another feature event. Jayce Denny was second and Aiden Powell rounded out the field in third. McCown’s Jackson County Speedway will return to action on Friday August 26th with a full card of Late Models, Modifieds, Mod Lites, Pure Stocks, Outlaw 4 Cylinders, Stock 4 Cylinders, Mini Wedges and an Enduro. McCown's Jackson County Speedway continues to break car count records with 94 cars signing in for competition. Chris Carpenter conquered the late model division, Kenny Johnson returned to victory lane in the modified division, Jamey Adams once again won the street stock division, Gary Griffith earned his first feature win in the mod lite division, Levi Woods continues his win streak in the pure stock division, Chip Mack won his first feature in the outlaw 4 cylinders, Tommy Cox won in the stock 4 cylinder division, Coleton Perine won the mini wedge division and Jason Carpenter won the enduro event. Tommy Johnson and Russ Frohnapfel brought the late model feature to the green flag. Frohnapfel quickly gained the point with fifth starting Chris Carpenter quickly getting to the third position. Frohnapfel and Ronnie Mayle would battle for the lead for several laps when Carpenter would begin to challenge for second. Mayle would retire with mechanical issues before any pass could be completed and Carpenter would put his sights on the lead. A lap 10 caution would bunch the field back up and would give Carpenter the opportunity to challenge for the lead. It only took one lap and Carpenter would take over the lead on lap 12. Frohnapfel would continue to challenge for the lead the remainder of the race but could never make the pass. Carpenter would go on to win the inaugural late model event. Scott Sperry would earn hard charger honors with a 13th to 7th performance. Rounding out the top ten would be Carpenter, Frohnapfel, Jeremy Misel, Tommy Johnson, Terry Hinkle, Randy Wynett, Scott Sperry, Pete Brunton, Robert Bailey, Jay Dunaway. Kenny Johnson would take the lead on the initial start of the modified feature. Before a lap was completed a pile up in turn three would take out four cars and dwindle the field to 14. On the restart a spin in turn two would collect a couple of cars and this time would take out three cars and dwindle the field to 11. As the saying goes "the third time is a charm" only lasted one lap as the 11 car of Matt Holcomb would bring out the caution and four more cars would retire from the event. After one official lap we would have seven cars surviving to race 19 more laps of the 20 lap feature. But just as bad as the beginning was the end was just as good. With a few laps remaining, JP Roberts, as he did the entire race, was hounding the leader Kenny Johnson for position. A lap 19 caution would retire two more cars, one of which was JP Roberts who was having a very good race for the lead. The lap 19 caution would bunch the field up for a green white checker sprint for the win. Mike Wilson would inherit the second position and would take full advantage. On the restart Wilson would dive into the corners and go side by side with the leader, Johnson however would make the high side momentum work to his advantage and go on to win yet another feature victory at McCowns Jackson County Speedway. Rounding out the top behind Johnson is Wilson, Travis Dickson, Brian Whiteman, Glen Keaton, JP Roberts, Kolt Sarka, Justin Maddox, Dean Collier and Tyler Hendrix. It may seem like a broken record in the Street Stock division, but this week Jamey Adams had to earn his victory as last weeks $1,000 winner, Bruce Gray Jr, would challenge Adams for the lead a majority of the race. Gray would take over the second position from Brandon Thompson as the top three cars would battle for position. John Powell Jr would quickly find his way into the battle for the top spot as the top four cars were nose to tail. Powell Jr would take over third on the 7th lap as the top 3 would start to break from the field. Gray would continously nose under Adams on several occasions throughout the race but Adams had the high side momentum. Lap after lap the race for the lead was a great one. Lap 16 saw misfortune for John Powell Jr as he would retire from the event with a flat tire. Adams would go on to win yet again and remain perfect for the year. Mike Brust earned hard charger going from his 12th starting position to 6th. Butch Eblin also had a great run back thru the field after a lap 8 spin, he would get back up to the 9th place and battle for 8th at the line. Rounding out the top ten behind Adams was Gray, Thompson, Jim Helterbran, Davey Akers, Brust, Kevin Woodall, Jack Martin III, Butch Eblin and Steve Karr. In the mod lite feature Aaron Pendleton quickly jumped out to the lead with Gary Griffith in tow. Pendleton would continue his dominance until lap 6, when he retire with mechanical issues. Gary Griffith would inherit the lead and go unchallenged the rest of the caution free event. Rounding out the field behind Griffith is JT Jones, Chris Carman, David Elmore, Anthony Helms, Brennan Bobst and Aaron Pendleton. In the outlaw 4 cylinder feature Chip Mack and Randy Baker brought the field to the green flag. The duo would quickly take over the top two positions. On lap 6, 8th starting Steve Cruse in a borrowed Joey Johnson owned ride would find his way into the second position. Even though Cruse was fast, Chip Mack was just too much. Mack would go on to win the event and his first feature of the year. Rounding out the field behind Mack was Cruse, Baker, Josh Queen, Todd Ervin, James Arthurs, Randy Taylor and Charles Mullins. In the stock 4 cylinder feature Tommy Cox would quickly take his third starting position to the third and run flag to flag for the victory. Cox was followed by Jeff Rankin, Steve Brown, John Rankin, Brandon Allen, Brandon Potter and Brad Stone. In the pure stock feature Levi Woods would dominate the event going wire to wire. Steve Noble would earn the second place position with Brandon Allen third and Isreal Ousley fourth. In the mini wedge feature visiting Coleton Perine would take the feature win. The best battle was for second position between Chase Frohnapfel and Joel Richendollar. The two youngsters would go down the backstretch on the final lap side by side. Frohnapfel would drive in a little harder and take the position and finish a strong second. Rounding out the field would be Perine, Frohnapfel, Richendollar, Jayce Denny, Tanner Johnson, Erin Richendollar and Kasey Rankin. In the enduro event, the Lightning McQueen inspired car of Jason Carpenter would lead flag to flag in route to his first enduro victory. The 5 car field only saw two cars finish on the lead lap as Carpenter set a fast pace throughout the event. Saturday at McCown’s Jackson County Speedway saw Chillicothe, Ohio’s Bruce Gray Jr take home the cool $1,000 for the Martin Roofing Street Stock Shootout victory. The event was delayed by two rain storms but owner Brad McCown stuck it out and a little after 10 o’clock cars began to make their way onto the track. Usual front runner Travis Dickson finally broke thru in the Modified division for his first feature victory of the year, Shelly Powell conquered the Pure Stocks for her second feature victory of the year, Todd Ervin won the Outlaw 4 Cylinder Make up feature and Randy Baker won the regular event, Brandon Potter won both the of the Stock 4 Cylinder features and Joel Richendollar won the mini wedge feature. In the $1,000 to win Martin Roofing Street Stock Shootout Bruce Gray Jr jumped out to the early lead over the stellar field of the Ohio Valley’s best Street Stock drivers. Sixth starting John Powell Jr would make the pass for the lead on lap 4 as the several of the back markers started making their way through the field. Powell would continue to rule the field until a lap 12 caution would bring out a short red flag. That red flag would ruin Powell’s chances as he would retire from the event with ignition failure. Bruce Gray Jr would inherit the lead and would take complete advantage of the gift as he would increase he lead lap after lap. Throughout the field several drivers would have great runs through the field, Brandon Mather would turn his 12th starting position into a 4th place finish, Jack Martin III would turn his 16th starting position into a 8th place finish and Hard Charger honors going to Shannon Stevens turning his 20th starting position and finishing 9th. Rounding out the top ten behind Gray is Lee Neil, Jim Helterbran, Mather, Jayme Rayner, Glen Underwood, Mike Brust, Martin, Stevens, Butch Eblin. Jess Hartman, who arrived as his heat was being called to the line up took his 10th starting position to a 4th place finish but hard charger honors went to Matt Holcomb who took his 18th starting position to a 7th place finish. Travis Dickson would go unchallenged much of the race to go on to win his first feature win of the year. Rounding out the top ten behind T. Dickson is Mark Dickson, Johnson, Hartman, Robinson, Tomas Sigler, Holcomb, Adam Colley, Dan Aldridge and Dean Collier. In the Pure Stock feature it was Shelly Powell who took the lead on lap one. Rounding out the field behind Noble, Jerrad Willis, Anthony Maynard, Nick Ley and Brad Creamer. In the Outlaw 4 Cylinder feature Ben Vance took the lead on lap one over Randy Baker. Baker would take over the lead on lap 2 with Chip Mack taking over second on the same lap. Make up feature winner Todd Ervin would advance to third on lap 3 as Vance would stop on backwards slide on lap 8 as he would regain 2 positions to second place run. A lap 9 caution would take out over half the field as two cars would get together down the front stretch and collect other cars in the process. When it was all cleared only Randy Baker, Steve Cruse and Josh Simpson would continue. Over the final laps, Cruse would challenge for lead on several occasions until on the final lap he would have mechanical issues and retire. Baker would go on to take his second feature win of the year. Rounding out the field behind Baker is Joshua Simpson, Cruse, Vance, Ervin, David Bowman, Slade Mack, Josh Queen, Chip Mack, Dustin Hartley. In the Stock 4 Cylinder Brandon Potter would go two for two on the night as he would claim both the $200 to win make up feature and the regular show. A new record car count for McCowns Jackson County Speedway took to the bullring as 70 cars signed in for competition. Kevin Morehouse won his second feature of the year in the modified division, Jamey Adams took his newly built camaro to victory lane in the street stock division, JT Jones broke through in the mod lite division to earn his first victory, Levi Woods continued his strangle hold over the pure stock division and Chase Frohnapfel claimed victory in the mini wedge division. In the modified feature Kevin Morehouse would jump out to the early lead with Mark Dickson in tow. The top 5 cars of Morehouse, Dickson, Rob Stambaugh, Travis Dickson and Tanner Wilson would break from the field as the top 5 was nose to tail for much of the race. As the laps counted down T. Dickson and Wilson would shuffle positions for several laps putting on a great show for the fans. A lap 13 caution for 6th running Derrick Shadwick would bunch the field for a two lap showdown. Mark Dickson would challenge Morehouse for the lead but would never have enough to make the pass. The man on the move was Tanner Wilson, restarting 5th, he would quickly get by T. Dickson for fourth and for the final several corners challenge Stambaugh for third. Wilson would several times go side by side with Stambaugh in the final laps but Stambaugh would hold his ground. Rounding out the field would be Kevin Morehouse, Mark Dickson, Rob Stambaugh, Tanner Wilson, Travis Dickson, Bud Thornsberry, Dave Jamison, TJ Harper, Derrick Shadwick, Ryan McCarley and Fireball Pinkerton. In the street stock feature Jamey Adams would yet again jump out to the lead from his pole starting position. As the field shuffled several postions in the early laps, Brandon Mather would find himself back up front challenging for the lead. Mather would go side by side with Adams on several occasions but Adams would continously power his way on the highside of the speedway. Through the field, Butch Eblin would have a good run running in the sixth position for most of the race until a late race flat tire would slow his efforts. In the end, it was once again Jamey Adams claiming the victory for his fifth victory of the year. Behind Adams was Brandon Mather, Davey Akers, Bruce Gray Jr, Chad Barr, Deven Karr, Danny Gotschall, Butch Eblin, Danny Gotschall Jr, Kurtis Dunaway, Steve Karr. In the mod lite feature JT Jones and Aaron Pendleton would quickly jump out to the lead. Jones and Pendleton would stretch their lead out as the rest of the field diced for position. Pendleton would bow out of the race on a lap 6 caution with mechanical issues handing second place to Gary Griffith. Griffith would take full advantage of his new position as he would challenge Jones for lead for several laps. As Jones and Griffith battled for the lead, the man on a mission was Brandon Oliver. Oliver would restart last after a lap two spin and quickly make his way into the top 5 by lap 7. Oliver would make the pass for fourth on lap 8 and inherit a third on lap 12 when mechanical issues would end third running Joe McFee's great run. In the end it was JT Jones claiming his first feature victory of the year. Behind Jones was Griffith, Oliver, Chris Carman, Dylan Rittenhouse, Mike Arthurs, RJ Neal, Jack Kriel, McFee, Jamie Byus, Aaron Pendleton. In the pure stock division Brad Creamer would lead his first ever feature event as he would lead lap one. Levi Woods and Adrian Doles would take advantage of a Creamer mistake and take over 1st and 2nd on lap two. Woods and Doles would do battle for several laps until Doles would retire with mechanical issues on lap 8. Woods would go on to win yet another victory in the pure stock division. Behind Woods would be Brandon Allen, Creamer, Doles and Isreal Ousley. The outlaw 4 cylinders, stock 4 cylinders and Brushcreek legends feature were rained out as a storm passed over the race track about 11:20 pm. The legends feature will not be made up, however, the outlaw 4 cylinders and stock 4 cylinders will run their event this coming Saturday August 6th in a double feature night for the two classes. It was another exciting night of racing at McCown's Jackson County Speedway that saw repeat winners and first time winners. In the modified feature Mark Dickson earned his fifth win of the year, Jamey Adams also garnered his fifth victory in the street stock division, Dan Smith picked up his first victory of the year in the Mod Lite division, Levi Woods makes it a 3 peat in the Pure Stock division, Kyle Purdy returns to victory lane in the Stock 4 Cylinder division and Jayce Denny won the mini wedge feature. In the modified feature Derrick Shadwick jumped out to the early lead over Mark Dickson. The duo would put on a side by side battle for several laps before Dickson would make the pass for the lead on lap 6. While the leaders would continue their battle, 10th starting Travis Dickson would start his assault on the field as he would begin to pick off cars lap after lap. T. Dickson would find himself in fifth by lap 9, 3rd on lap 13 and would make the pass for 2nd on the final lap. Newcomer Kevin Delaney would also have a good run through the field going from his 9th starting postion to finish fourth. Tommy Powell would a good run going running third for the majority of the race before mechanical issues would retire him from the event on lap 17. Rounding out the top ten would be M. Dickson, T. Dickson, Shadwick, Delaney, Tobby Roush, Donnie Stewart, Danny Ferguson, Mike Conkle, Brad Butler, Adrian Crawford. In the street stock feature John Powell Jr would take the point at the drop of the green flag. Just like in the modified feature Powell and Jamey Adams would have a great side by side battle going before Powell would drift high in turns 1 and 2 and Adams would capitalize on Powells only mistake of the race. While that pass happened on lap 10, Bruce Gray Jr would pick cars off earlier in the race by going from his seveth starting position to third in just four laps. Deven Karr would also have a great run into the top 5 from his 11th starting position. Rounding out the field would be Adams, Powell Jr, Gray Jr, Brandon Mather, Karr, Kurtis Dunaway, Butch Eblin, Danny Gotschall, Danny Gotschall Jr, Brandon Thompson and Steve Karr. In the mod lite feature Dan Smith would jump out to the early lead over Aaron Pendleton. Smith would slow coming down the front stretch on lap 3 handing Pendleton the lead. Smith however would continue and on the very next lap Pendleton would hand the lead back over to Smith after a Pendleton spin. On the restart, Smith would jump out to a sizeable lead as JT Jones and Chris Carman would battle for the second position. Jones would prove to much for Carman as he would never falter. Smith would go on to win his first career mod lite feature victory. Rounding out the field behind Smith would be Jones, Carman, Jamie Byus, Joe Rogers, Greg Oliver and Aaron Pendleton. In the pure stock feature it was another familiar face at the front of the pack with Levi Woods pacing the field. Woods and Shelly Powell would almost seem to have a tow strap hooked to each of the cars as Woods would never get a huge lead over Powell and Powell would nose under Woods on a few occasions. At the line Woods would get the victory but Powell almost seemed to be connected to Woods rear bumper. An exciting race it was. Rounding out the field behind Powell would be Adrian Doles, Curt Reck, Tedd Lescody, Brad Creamer and Isreal Ousley. In the stock 4 cylinder feature Kyle Purdy and newcomer Tommy Cox would battle it out for the lead for the first several laps. That battle for the lead would last 5 laps, when on lap 6 Cox would retire with a flat tire. Purdy would cruise the remainder of the event gaining his third victory of the year. Rounding out the field behind Purdy was Brandon Potter, Todd Miley, Michael Skeens, Cager Collins, Austin Smith, Brandon Allen, Tommy Cox and Rex Smith Jr. Two outlaw 4 cylinder cars would be attendance, however, during hot laps Steve Cruse would blow his motor ending his night. Randy Baker would be credited with the feature win. Two mini wedge cars would also be in attendance with Jayce Denny winning both the heat and feature over Adrian Powell. McCown’s Jackson County Speedway will take next weekend off for the Jackson County Fair and will return on Friday, July 29th with a full program of Modifieds, Street Stocks, Mod Lites, Pure Stocks, Outlaw 4 Cylinders, Stock 4 Cylinders, Mini Wedges and an Enduro. In yet another event that dealt with rain this season, McCown's Jackson County Speedway saw 60 cars sign in for the evenings racing. Kenny Johnson returned to victory lane in the modified feature, newcomer Tyler Riggs took the win over a full field of Mod Lites, Jamey Adams continued his dominance of the Street Stock division, Brandon Allen picked up his first win in the Stock 4 Cylinder division, Steve Cruse cruised his way to the win in the Outlaw 4 Cylinder division and Levi Woods made it back to back wins in the Pure Stock Division. In the modified feature Kenny Johnson took his outside starting position and quickly jumped out to the lead at the drop of the green flag. The father-son duo of Mark and Travis Dickson were nipping at the bit for the entire race, waiting for Johnson to make a mistake. While the trio of leaders were clicking off the laps a lap 10 caution would see the demise of 3 cars. Delmar Qualls would spin in turn one bringing out the caution; while the caution was flying Danny Ferguson would spin to avoid the incident, collecting Roger Shadwick in the process. All three cars would retire from the event. This caution would give second running T. Dickson and third running M. Dickson another shot at Johnson for the lead. On the restart Johnson would prove to be to much as he would go on to win his second victory in four visits at the speedplant. In victory lane Johnson would state "Thats my kind of racing, hammer down!" Rounding out the field behind Johnson would be T. Dickson, M. Dickson, Jason Brooks, Tommy Powell, Ryan McCarley, Danny Ferguson, Roger Shadwick, Delmar Qualls and Derrick Shadwick. In the continously growing Mod Lite class, newcomer Tyler Riggs would jump out to the early lead. As Riggs and the ever dominant Aaron Pendleton would do battle for the lead, Dan Smith would make an amazing charge to the front, going from his 9th place starting position to third by lap 6. Riggs and Pendleton would wage a war for the ages as Pendleton would consistently, lap after lap, nose his car under Riggs. The 15 year old Riggs would never faulter as he would go on to win his first Mod Lite feature at McCown's Jackson County Speedway. Rounding out the top ten behind Pendleton would be Smith, JT Jones, Doug Morris, Brandon Oliver, Gary Griffith, Jamie Byus, Kevin Rittenhouse. In the street stock feature, Jamey Adams and Brad Roe would bring the field to the green flag. Adams and Roe would jostle for position going into turn one as Adams would come out of turn two the leader. Roe would try every trick in the book to catch and pass the dominant Adams, trying the high line, the low line, the very low line and the very very low line as he would go below the corner tires on a couple of occasions. Roe's mount would end on lap ten when mechanical failures would cause the driver to retire from the event. Adams would go on to win his fourth feature event. Rounding out the field behind Adams would be Brandon Mather, Lee Neil, Deven Karr, Kurtis Dunaway, Roe, Butch Eblin and Steve Karr. In the Stock 4 Cylinder feature, Brandon Allen would take his newly built car to the front on lap one. Keith Anderson would hound the leader the entire race but never really challenging for position. Allen would take the new race car on to victory lane, claiming his first feature win of the year. Rounding out the field behind Anderson would be Justin Webb, Brad Stone, John Burchette and Todd Miley. In the Outlaw 4 Cylinder feature, Steve Cruse and Randy Baker put on a show for the fans the first several laps as the leaders would battle for position. Midway through the race, Baker would hit Cruse in the rear end, losing all of his momentum and giving Cruse a huge lead. That lead would be to much for Baker as Cruse would cruise his way to victory for the third time this season. Rounding out the field behind Baker would be, Joey Johnson, Todd Irvin, Chad Bear, David Bowman. In the Pure Stock feature, Levi Woods would jump out to the early lead at the start of the race. Anthony Maynard would quickly go through the field as he would pass for second on lap 4. Maynard would then begin his march toward the leader as he would slowly reel in Woods. Maynard would prove to be the fastest car on the track, but would run out of laps before he could challenge for the lead. Woods would go on to win his second consecutive feature event. Rounding out the field behind Maynard would be Adrian Doles, Steve Noble, Brad Creamer. In the Mini Wedge division, McCowns Jackson County Speedway is 3 for 3, thats three races and three different winners. This week Jayce Denny would best the field for his first feature win of the year. Rounding out the field behind Denny would be Cole French, Chase Frohnapfel, Joel Richendollar.. McCown’s Jackson County Speedway will be back to action on Friday, July 15th with MIDSEASON CHAMPIONSHIPS! With the threat of rain for the third week in a row, McCown's Jackson County Speedway would roar to life with only a slight sprinkle before hot laps. Rob Stambaugh would take the modified feature, the always dominant Jamey Adams would take the Street Stock feature, Aaron Pendelton continues to dominate the mod lite division, Levi Woods broke through in the Pure Stock division to claim his first win, Todd Miley raced his way to his second feature win in the Stock 4 Cylinder division, Steve Cruse would take the Outlaw 4 Cylinder win and Joel Richendollar would win the Mini Wedge feature. |

| It was another exciting night at McCown's Jackson County Speedway and for the second week in a row we had to beat the rain. Fans, however, were treated to both stellar racing and an infield temper tantrum that saw two racers slug it out before race officials could intervene. Mark Dickson would claim his fourth modified feature win against some great competition, Aaron Pendleton would go 4 for 4 in the Mod Lite division, Steve Cruse would take home the Outlaw 4 Cylinder Class, Adrian Doles would get his first victory in the Pure Stock Division and after tech inspection Todd Miley would be credited with the win in the 4 Cylinder Stock Division. Mark Dickson and Jeremy Berwanger would bring the Modified division to the green flag as Berwanger would quickly take to the point. Dickson would battle right back on the following lap as the two would go side by side for the next several laps. Dickson would seal the pass on lap 5 and would begin to pull away. New comer and fourth running Roy Johnson would bow out on lap 7 with mechanical failure as the field would quickly click off the laps. With two laps to go and Dickson a straightaway in the lead, the second through fourth position would be nose to tail coming out four. Third running JP Roberts would nose under Berwanger several times in the closing laps and would be side by side at the white flag. Berwanger would power his way through turns one and two and gain a car length. Roberts would try to make the pass one more time in turns three and four, but Berwanger proved to much. Rounding out the field would be M. Dickson, Berwanger, Roberts, T. Dickson, Dave Jamison, Ryan McCarley, Mike Conkle, Bill Wilson, Roy Johnson. In the Mod Lite feature, Aaron Pendleton and third starting Dan Smith would quickly make a break from the field. As Smith would inch closer each lap, new comer Gary Griffith would take the third position from Chris Carman on lap 7. Smith would begin to make a serious challenge for the lead on lap 10 and on lap 12 would dive under Pendleton for the lead. Smith, however, would have to much momentum entering the corner and would have to hit the brakes to avoid slamming into the leader, this would cause Smith to spin and collect Griffith in the process. Neither competitor was able to continue. Chris Carman would inherit the second position and on the restart would challenge for the lead. Carmans efforts would not be enough as Pendleton would go on to win his fourth race of the year. Rounding out the field behind Carman would be Brandon Oliver, Joe Rogers, Logan Wood, Dan Smith, Gary Griffith and Casey Wood. In the Outlaw 4 Cylinder division Steve Cruse and Mike Strickland would bring the field to the green flag with Cruse quickly asserting himself as the leader. Third running Joe Johnson would bobble on lap 4 as Randy Baker would take advantage and claim the position. Johnson would recover and claim the position back on the following lap. Baker would slide another position on lap 8 as Scott Henry would make the pass for position. The field would remain unchanged the rest of the event as Cruse would go unchallenged for the victory. Rounding out the field behind Cruse would be Strickland, Johnson, Henry, Baker, Todd Irvin. In the most controversial feature of the night, the 4 Cylinder Stock Division saw a running order finish of Chris Strickland, Justin Webb, Brandon Allen and Todd Miley. However, after post race inspection of the top 3 cars, all cars would be disqualified and the win would be credited to Miley, who only completed three laps of the feature. After further discussion, Owner/Promoter Brad McCown would give those three drivers credit for finishing second, third and fourth. In the Pure Stock Division, Adrian Doles would take the Steve Noble owned 23n to the front in a hurry. On lap 2, rookie Brad Creamer, while going for position, would bounce off of second running Derek Davidson. This incident would cause Davidson to retire from the event. Doles would go on to cruise to an easy victory, claiming his first win of the year. In the mini wedge feature Drake Ray would jump out to a huge lead over Jayce Denny and Joel Richendollar. Richendollar and Denny would battle it out for most of the event as Richendollar would claim the position at the checkered flag. Rounding out the field was Drake Ray, Joel Richendollar and Jayce Denny. Modifieds (10) Heat 1 - 1. Mark Dickson (1) 2. JP Roberts (4) 3. Ryan McCarley (2) 4. Mike Conkle (5) 5. With the skies putting on a light show and musical and rains on there way, the show had to be moved along like the track surface, super fast! Some great racing was seen at the ¼ mile speedplant as Mark Dickson would claim his third feature win in the modified division, Rod Henning would take the visiting 1200cc Mini Sprint class victory, Aaron Pendleton would continue his dominance in the Mod Lite division, Mike Strickland would claim his first feature win in the 4 Cylinder division and Barry Brisker would claim another feature win in the Pure Stock Division.
Rod Henning and Kevin Roberts would bring the 1200cc Mini Sprint feature to the green flag. Roberts would quickly assert himself as the leader, as he would pace the first few laps. On lap 3 Roberts would hand over the lead to Henning, as Roberts would retire with mechanical issues. Henning would increase his lead every lap as he would go on for the easy victory. Henning was followed by Kevin Roberts Jr and Hudson Park. In the most exciting feature of the night, Father and Son would duel it out in the modified feature as Dave Jamison and Roger Shadwick would put on a duel of their own for third place. Son Travis Dickson would pull out to the early lead as father Mark would be in tow. Lap after lap Mark would methodically set up to take over the lead in case of a Travis bobble. For 13 solid laps this would take place as Mark would constantly nose under his son in hopes of over taking the lead. Lap 13 would be the lap that Travis would want a do over, as his only bobble of the night came in turns one and two as he would drift high coming out of turn two leaving the bottom wide open for Mark to take over. The two would go side by side down the back stretch as Mark would complete the pass coming out of four. The battle for third would be no less impressive as Jamison would nose under Shadwick lap after lap. Shadwick would leave a slight opening coming out of turn four on lap 12, Jamison took advantage of the opening, powering his way through the bottom of turn four. Jamison would complete the pass for third in turn two as he would go on for a top 3 finish. Rounding out the field behind Jamison was Shadwick, Adam Colley, Tommy McClain, Ryan McCarley, Mike Conkle, Robert Goodrick and Bill Wilson. We would like to thank Mr. Conkle, Mr. Goodrick and Mr. Wilson for bringing their Hot Mods to race at McCown's Jackson County Speedway and have a little fun while doing it. The Mod Lite feature would see the two usual suspects up front as Aaron Pendleton and Dan Smith would quickly go 1,2 at the drop of the green flag. Lap 3 would see the demise of Smith as something would go wrong and Smith would ride the back stretch wall nearly flipping in the process. On the restart, Doug Morris would now challenge Pendleton for the lead as the two would break from the field. Pendleton would go on to stretch his lead and take yet another win. Rounding out the field behind Pendleton would be Morris, Chris Carman, Brandon Oliver, Chad Swigert and Smith. In the 4 Cylinder feature another father and son duo would claim the first two finishing positions, as Mike Strickland would break through for his first feature win of the year. The battle for third would rage on for the entire race as Brandon Allen would best Todd Miley. The finishing order would be M. Strickland, Chris Strickland, Allen, Miley, Jeremy Hudnell and Justin Webb. In the Pure Stock feature, Barry Brisker would continue his dominance as he would lead flag to flag unchallenged. Adrian Doles would come home second and Derik Davidson would come home third. McCown’s Jackson County Speedway will be back in action this Friday, June 17th with Modifieds, Mod Lites, Pure Stocks, Outlaw 4 Cylinders and Stock 4 Cylinders. With the best track surface of the year, McCown’s Jackson County Speedway would host 5 classes of racing at the tight ¼ mile bullring. Mark Dickson would claim the modified feature, while first timers John Powell Jr and Shelly Powell would claim the Street Stock and Pure Stock features, Aaron Pendleton would make it two in a row in the Mod Lite Division and Chris Strickland would break through and claim his first win of the season in the 4 cylinder division. In the modified feature Mark Dickson would shoot out to the early lead over second starting Roger Shadwick. Dickson would gradually increase his lead as Shadwick and Eric Hatfield would battle for position. The battle for second would last the entire race as Shadwick would win out in the end. Dickson would go on and claim his second modified feature event as Shadwick, Hatfield, Ryan McCarley and Sean Settles would round out the field. First time visitor John Powell Jr would pace the field in the street stock class as he and Bruce Gray Jr would quickly distance themselves from the field. Another first time visitor, Brandon Mather, would take over the third position when Richie Trego would nearly spin coming out of turn two. Powell would go on to lead every lap unchallenged, making his first visit of the year a successful one. Rounding out the field behind Powell Jr. was Gray Jr, Mather, Trego, Phil Rice Sr., Butch Eblin Aaron Pendleton and Brandon Oliver would take the green flag in the Mod lite feature. Dan Smith would quickly find his way to the third position as Chris Carmen would spin on lap 1 handing Smith the second position. Pendleton would jump out to a slight lead as Smith would gain on Pendleton over the next several laps. Smith would make his move on lap 6 going side by side with the leader in turns 1 & 2. Pendleton’s high side momentum would carry him back to the lead as a caution would settle down the battle. A lap 10 spin by Smith would all but seal the victory for Pendleton as he would jump out to a huge lead on the restart, leaving Smith with not enough time and too much real estate to catch the leader. Pendleton would go on to win his second straight feature event. Rounding out the field behind Pendleton would be Smith, D. Rittenhouse, K Rittenhouse, Carmen, Oliver. In the Pure Stock Division we would have yet another mono y mono feature event. This time it would be between first time visitor Shelly Powell and Sundays feature winner Barry Brisker. Powell would jump out to the early lead as Brisker would be in tow. Brisker would stay close the entire race but could never challenge for the lead. Powell would go on to win her first event of the year. The best racing of the night would come in the 4 Cylinder division as Mike Strickland and two time winner Kyle Purdy would bring the field to the green. Chris Strickland would take over the second position as the trio would quickly distance themselves from the field. As the remainder of the field was slicing and dicing for position the Stricklands would have a great battle for the lead. That battle would end on lap 9, when Mike Strickland would lose a front tire going into to turn one. On the restart C. Strickland would jump out to the lead and cruise the next 6 laps to earn his first feature win of the year. Hard charger for the event went to Rex Smith Jr., he took his 9th starting position and carefully made his way to a third place finish. Rounding out the field behind Smith Jr. was Keith Anderson, John Collins, Brandon Allen, Jeremy Hudnell, Todd Miley, Mike Strickland. | A star studded group of the Ohio Valley’s best modifieds signed in for the 1st Annual ‘Modified Mayhem 40’. Kevin Morehouse and Kenny Johnson would bring the field to the green flag, with Johnson quickly taking the early lead from the outside position. The early laps would be marred with cautions as third running Rob Stambaugh would spin and cause the first of seven cautions in the first 9 laps. Dave McWilliams would take over the second position from Morehouse on lap 6, as the leaders would begin to pull away from the field. During a lap 13 caution, drivers started to complain about having trouble seeing, so for the safety of the drivers the decision was made to cut the laps to 25 laps. While laps started to click away, Stambaugh and 19th starting Eric Hatfield would begin their march through the field. On lap 18, Morehouse would begin to make his move as he would take the 2nd position from McWilliams on lap 19 and one lap later would take the lead from Johnson. Morehouse would go on to win the $2,000 first place money. Rounding out the top ten behind Morehouse would be Johnson, McWilliams, Hartman, Christian, Wisecarver, Hatfield, Stambaugh, Robinson and Jamison. The four cylinder feature started out as just another feature, but on lap 4 Rex Smith Jr, John Collins, Kevin McKenzie and Mike Strickland were all involved in an accident that saw John Collins end up on his side. Kevin McKenzie would be disqualified from the event due to rough driving. Collins would be ok and all would retire from the race except Rex Smith Jr. On the restart Todd Miley would jump out to the lead with Smith Jr. quickly coming up through the rest of the field. Smith Jr. would take over the lead on lap 6 and would cruise the rest of the feature for his first feature win of the year. Rounding out the field behind Smith Jr. would be Miley, Anderson, B. Smith, Collins, Purdy, M. Strickland and C. Strickland. Levi Woods would bring the Pure Stock to the green, as he and Barry Brisker would pace the field for first several laps. On lap 6 Brisker would make his move and take over the lead, quickly increasing his lead. Woods would continue his slide as Jason Spillman would get by him on the following lap. Brisker would go on and win his second feature of the year. Rounding out the field behind Brisker would be Spillman, Woods and Davidson. Due to Pure Stock car counts, the Pure Stock class will now go to a car count based payout. This payout will be posted on the website in the coming days. It was another ramping, high energy night of excitement at McCown’s Jackson County Speedway. 63 cars signed in for action at the speedplant with 26 modifieds getting there final test session before next Sunday’s $2,000 to win “Modified Mayhem 40” event. In the modified feature, Mark Dickson put on a racing clinic by starting 12th and winning the 20 lap main event. Laurelville, Ohio’s Jamey Adams gained back to back wins in the street stock division, while Aaron Pendleton took the always exciting Mod Lite feature. Barry Brisker broke through in the Pure Stock division to gain his first feature win of the year and Kyle Purdy earned his 4 cylinder stock feature event by going from the front, restarting on the tail, then climbing his way back to the front in exciting fashion. Roger Shadwick would jump out to an early lead in the modified feature, with second starting Rob Stambaugh on his tail. Stambaugh would hound Shadwick for most of the early laps, several times going side by side. While Shadwick and Stambaugh were battling, eighth starting Kenny Johnson and twelfth starting Mark Dickson would quickly get to the front. By lap 3 Johnson had reached the 3rd position and on lap 4 Dickson would claim the 4th position setting up a four way battle for the lead. On lap 7 Johnson would claim second coming out of turn two but Stambaugh would regain the position coming out of turn four in a top to bottom pass. Stambaugh would claim the lead on lap 11 passing Shadwick with the high side momentum, however Stambaugh would bobble in turns 1 and 2 and Shadwick would regain the lead. Another Stambaugh bobble would allow Johnson and Dickson to take over 2nd and 3rd on lap 12, but a lap 13 caution would see Stambaugh, Johnson, and Dave Jamison all pull off the track. Fortunately for Johnson and Jamison they would bandage their cars with a new tire and both would make it back on the track. On lap 14 hard charging and 5th place running Travis Dickson would get extremely loose out of turn four eventually spinning out down the front stretch collecting David Gilbert Jr and Luke Jordan. Dickson would retire from the event as Gilbert and Jordan would be able to continue. Mark Dickson would claim the lead on lap 16 from Shadwick as Shadwick began to fade in the closing laps. Jim Wilson, a veteran racer of many years, would claim the second spot on lap 19 as Mark Dickson would go on to claim his first feature win at McCown’s Jackson County Speedway. The race for third was possibly the closest race for position at the finish we may ever see at McCown’s Jackson County Speedway, as Kenny Johnson would narrowly, by the slimmest of margins, miss getting passed Shadwick for that position. Rounding out the top ten behind Johnson was Eric Hatfield, Dave Jamison, Jeremy Rayburn, Adam Colley, Doug Betts and Justin Mills. In the street stock feature, Ed Leasure would quickly see his 1st starting position disappear as Jim Helterbran and Jamey Adams would make their way to 1st and 2nd by lap 2. Adams would dispose of Helterbran on lap 4 and would quickly get out to a several car length advantage. Bruce Gray Jr would make the pass for 3rd on lap 6, as the field would begin to spread apart. Adams would make it look easy, winning his second feature in a row at McCown’s Jackson County Speedway. Rounding out the top ten behind Adams was Helterbran, Gray, Leasure, Richie Trego, Butch Eblin, Danny Gotschall, Steve Karr, Deven Karr and Josh May. Doug Morris would bring the Mod Lite feature to the green as he would quickly get out to an early lead. Aaron Pendleton would close in on Morris as the two would do battle for several laps. Pendleton would gain the lead off of turn 2 on lap 5 as he and Morris would continue their up front battle. Dan Smith would make his trip from Indiana worth while as he took his 6th starting position and quickly raced his way to third. As Morris would begin to fade on Pendleton, Smith would take advantage and make the pass for second on lap 9. Morris would have none of it however, quickly regaining the second spot on the next lap. Pendleton would start to increase his lead over the course of the race easily gaining his first victory of the year at McCown’s Jackson County Speedway. Rounding out the top ten behind Pendleton was Morris, Smith, Brandon Oliver, Chad Swigert, Dylan Rittenhouse, Kevin Rittenhouse, Chris Carmen, Logan Wood, and Joe Rogers. The pure stock feature would turn out to be a mono y mono race as all cars but two would drop out by lap 2. Barry Brisker and Levi Woods would battle for the entire race as Woods constantly searched for an opening to gain the lead. On lap 14, Woods would make his move diving low in turns 1 and 2, but the high side momentum of Brisker would carry him to his first feature victory of the year. The four cylinder feature would start out with a torrid battle for the lead with John Burchett and Kyle Purdy. Purdy would try a little too hard on lap 4 as he would loop it around out of turn 2 and bring out the first caution. He would then become a man on a mission. Kyle would restart in the 7th and final position on the track quickly making his way to fifth by the next lap, on lap 6 he would pick off another position to third and on lap 7 he would find his way to second. Purdy would make the pass for the lead on lap 9 as he would go on for his second victory in a row at McCown’s Jackson County Speedway. Rounding out the field behind Purdy was Burchett, Cager Collins, Rex Smith Jr, Steve Simpson, Todd Miley, Brandon Allen. Modifieds (26) Heat 1 1. Rob Stambaugh (5) 2. JP Roberts (2) 3.
